To open with I know in my last post I said I would post to my blog once a week and well this week I didn’t have anything to talk about that I believed I could make interesting. But now a week and one day later I have an idea.
Henley on Thames is a quaint town with lots of little coffee shops and in the summer we have Henley Royal Regatta and Henley Festival and other such events. Henley is from the younger person perspective an older peoples town with very little to do. As all the events that happen in Henley you have to pay for.
As a student who has lived in Henley for almost six years now I have to say Henley for a teenager is dire. There is nothing to do for us, no shelter from the rain if we want to go out but not pay for a coffee, no free activities and no shops we actually want to go to. Then there is the Skate park issue… We would love a Skate park but the council of Henley are against it because they want Henley to be an old peoples town.
What do I want as a teenager who lives in Henley? To start with I would love an internet cafΓ©. Henley is the home of coffee shops yet there is not a single internet cafΓ©! If I want to print something off in town I have to go the library or go home if the library is closed. An internet cafΓ© would be an amazing benefit to Henley in my view.
I also think Henley should have a new Skate park! I think most of the teenagers in Henley agree with that. It’s been campaigned for, forΒ years but yet the council do nothing! So much to listening to the what the people want, it’s all about the politics and the money to them. Henley Skate park is now closed and taken apart for being too dangerous.
The third think I think Henley should have is rain shelters in parks, like the band stand in Henley maybe. It would be so useful for people to meet up there and have shelter on hot days and also on rainy days. It wouldn’t have to be expensive but it would be a nice thing to have and I think useful to the public.
These are just some of my ideas for Henley and I had this idea for a post as I am writing this from the Henley library and came here as I needed to print some of my college work off here. π
